4. Dining Hall Nutrition - The "Freshman 15" is a very real challenge for many college students. What tips do you have for avoiding the "Freshman 15" when encountering these situations? Put your suggested solutions in your Group Guide.

A: We all know that freshman 15 is a common thing that will happen in your college life. So in order to avoid it make sure you:

   - Eat a healthy diet
   - Avoid eating snacks after midnight, it effects your digestion
   - Exercise daily if possible, your body needs to move!
   - Record your health plans if you want to know what you ate
-If you’re sleeping late and you start to get hungry, eat  something light rather than heavy stuff like: ice cream, chips, chocolate, etc. Fruits and water is great snack to at least keep your hunger down.

5.Oops! Busy schedule, I don’t have time for healthy meals and snacks!

A:Well go buy some vegetables and stack them up in a storage.     Always drink water and make a salad whenever you need to eat something. Buying some small packed snacks would be convenient for you too.

6. Late night eating - I study late and need the energy to keep going.

A: Try not to eat the “bad” snacks. Instead drink some water or a some herbal tea to keep you awake. Healthy snacks like fruits and vitamin water can help you out. A little sugar is all right, but don’t over eat those snacks you have there!

7.Too many choices! It all looks so good; I want to eat everything!

A: Control your diet man. Eat the good food for another day. Control it! You have to balance out your diet or else you won’t be able to control what you eat! You eat what you are.

8. Limited control over choices - Only high fat, unhealthy foods are available.

A:You still need fat, but make sure you control your diet and the food choices. You’re still young and you need cholesterol and some fat to keep your metabolism balanced.

9. Social drinking - I drink when I’m with my friends and when I go out.

A: Control your drinking, don’t party too much unless it’s finals over. If you are the type of person that gets hungover easy, you need to balance your drinking abilities better.

10. Emotional eating and not eating - I eat when I’m stressed, procrastinating, lonely, bored, and/or depressed.

-When you’re sad or stressed,  make sure don’t eat too much sweet stuff it’s very easy to gain weight. Talk to someone who you trust or go out to the nature areas to calm your nerves down. Remain the balanced diet you eat and don’t over stress the foods you munch in!
